It is so beautiful to watch what is happening inside of The Mihret House.
We share this so that you understand just how significant your monthly support is to the lives and futures of these children.
When ‘A’ first came to us he could not read or write. Most children who live on the street do not have opportunity to attend school regularly. It is a lot of responsibility for a child who is on his own to survive and pursue an education. Also, once a child misses a specific number of days, he or she is kicked out of school until the next academic year. Because of this, most of our children have had little education thus far. This was true for ‘A’. Today Yoni shared the exciting news that after only a few months of dedicated academic instruction by our social worker and staff, ‘A’ is now reading AND writing in BOTH Amharic and English! Yoni says he has also come very far in his math skills!! Education is so very important for these boys, as it will be one of the keys that God uses to unlock a good future.
Please know how grateful we are at Mercy Branch for our Street Team, the people who financially give on a monthly basis, and in doing so help us share the mercy of Jesus with once forgotten children. ‘A’ is very excited to show off some of his work to you. “So let us wage a global struggle against illiteracy, poverty, and terrorism, and let us pick up our books and pens. They are our most powerful weapons.”
