This photo is from #TheGap's new ad campaign that is supposed to celebrate the magic of girls.
The Gap says the focus is to encourage girls to be themselves. They're also partnering with Ellen DeGeneres on this.
Here is the picture they used to kick off the campaign.
Two of these girls can be acrobats/gymnasts/dancers/athletes.
One of these girls can be what? I don't know.
But one girl can be an armrest. That's clear.
Her aspiration can be that her body can be used as a prop to hold up another person's body?
Her body can be used as a resting place for someone else's body?
How is that inspiring?
Oh and wait. Which girl is the armrest?
Let me help you. It's the Black girl. She's the armrest. That's what she can be.
I know some of you don't get it. But I'm willing to guess that if you don't get it, that it's because you don't see color right?
Yea. Miss me with that. This ad is shit. Pure shit. I've got a Black girl over here that is far more brilliant than an armrest.
Please go to their page AND Ellen's page and tell them why this is problematic.
