" I moved here from Madagascar in 2011 to join my family and live a better life. I never spoke English at first, I learnt at school and through talking to people. My mum used to give me £20 every couple days to buy a travel card which was £10 and the other £10 for me to spend. I explored London and learned about the place and culture. And then one day she caught me smoking a cigarette and she stopped giving me the £20 so then I got a job and yeah, I started a paper round for £25 a week. I liked it for a while but six in the morning was too early. Haha. I worked with a girl called Grace after that in a pub, collecting glasses and wiping tables, stuff like that. She set me up with an interview for a chef. The next day the manager called me to do a shift, I got the job as a chef working for Ember inns. I love my job now, I feel like I am doing better in this life, cooking is a passion for me. I want people to love my food" -Gino Solo, Chef -Mawney Arms.
