"Remember what you told me? You can't lose hope.." Today's BTAS episode is from season 1 the 8th to be produced and 23rd to air. We start off with Bruce volunteering his time to feed homeless at the dock rescue mission, which he also gives money too. As he's working, a priest mentions that a lot of homeless are missing. Bruce decides to investigate, dyeing his hair gray, and growing out some stuble he assimilates himself into the homeless community and starts asking questions. Before he knows it he's knocked out and taken to a chain gang camp where Boss Biggis runs a brutal business, using these slaves for cheap labor. Bruce has amnesia and has totally forgotten who he even is! He struggles with this identity lose while trying to get used to the slave labor. He has a dream one night where he's walking down a hall and the Joker grabs him and they fall off a building. Then his dream takes him to the dock rescue mission. He walks the street as Bruce Wayne and a homeless man comes up and ask for a few bucks, so he obliges. Then a few more homeless come and he keeps handing out money generously until he's overwhelmed by beggars and he slumps his shoulders..shedding a tear. Knowing that as much as he can do, it's barely enough to help. It's quite a striking visual and in media we see Batman as a loner, or someone that doesn't love people. On the contrary, this episode shows Bruce has a huge heart for those less fortunate than himself and he strives to help them. Again, it's one I wasn't fond of as a child, because he's barely in costume and no big rogues villain. The writing, striking visuals, and different way of telling this story makes it a winner in my book now. Hope you guys enjoy these episode shots, tomorrow will be from "Be a Clown". Have a great Monday!
