We fall in love 😍 with singing but, due to external pressures of which there are many, we can begin to fall out of love with the business of performing.
It happens to many so don't be afraid if that's where you find yourself.
If ever you wonder why you're in this world and you feel lack lustre, get back to your vocal GRASS ROOTS. What age were you when you fell in love with singing? Can you recall the moment you decided you wanted to be involved in this performance business?
Try to recall what it felt like to connect to the Joy of it. The secret to staying buoyant in this business is to reconnect to the joy.
For me singing was as much a part of me as a leg or my eye colour! I had no idea you could actually study singing let alone that it could be a job! I watched musicals, fell in love with how sound was made. I listened to so many Musicians just to gain Mastery on This Craft, I wanted to know how they made sound. I sang everywhere. In bathrooms toilets for hours and played musicals on tape (!) until I knew the lyrics backwards.
It wasn't a goal to be a singer I just WAS one. I didn't BECOME one but I did want to become a BETTER one.
I'm on a journey to Musical Entrepreneurship I've met many singers who've felt that detachment and often it's because they feel disenfranchised from their power and detached from joy. When you fell in love with the art form you were in charge. Joy was the driver. You were the playful marionettist and not the puppet.
It's time to re-engage with that role. Put time aside to sing without critique. Songs you love. Experiment and play. The JOY is in your DNA.
It's time to make your career YOUR business
