“It was such a blessing to find myself thriving in the middle of the pain. Unless you find a way to do that, there's always going to be this fake illusion that once you get there--wherever "there" is for you--you'll be happy. But that's just not life. If you can't find happiness in the ugliness, you're not going to find it in beauty, either.” - Joanna Gaines
I can’t tell you how much this spoke to me when I first read it in Joanna’s book, The Magnolia Story. I still need the lesson on a regular basis - you will never be happy if you’re waiting for something to happen to become happy. If we were waiting to be in this house to be happy, we’d have been miserable for the last 3+ years that this has been in progress! This experience has stretched me and pulled me and brought just about every emotion out of me that you can have. It’s been teaching me that the journey is just as important as the destination. As we get so close to wrapping up this chapter of our lives and have just a few weeks left (I hope 😂) until we’re living in our house, I’m going to really try to slow down and enjoy every step.
