Gin a La Madame is a new wave Italian gin, which we discovered just recently in Singapore.
Created by The Jerry Thomas Project (Rome’s best and most secret speakeasy), it’s a unique gin. The Jerry Thomas Project is named in honour of Jeremiah Thomas the ‘father of American mixology’ who became renowned for his pioneering work in popularizing cocktails in the mid 1880s. Its headquarters are purposely difficult to find, hidden behind secret doors and down dark streets, and is only accessible with a password changed fortnightly. It sounds like our kind of place, although knowing our luck we would probably forget the password and end up drinking on the street!
The gin honours the Thomas mixology legacy as it’s the perfect base for several classic cocktails, as well as being a great sipping gin. We opted to have this as a gin & tonic whist in Singapore (we are The Gin To My Tonic after all) and it’s a gorgeous blend of flavours. It’s juniper rich so perfect for traditionalists, with sparks of citrus that develops into cinnamon and spice. The spice is prominent on the finish as the citrus fades. It’s certainly a gin to try, and we can imagine many a gin fan out there transforming the empty bottle into a beautiful home accessory as soon as they’ve finished the gin.
Overall, it’s a gin as glorious in taste as it is in style, so it’s not a surprise that it’s stocked by the likes of Harvey Nichols and Selfridges to name but a few! @jerrythomasproject_rome #thegintomytonic
