The client wanted a house to entertain friends and family whilst having the ability to ‘lock and leave’. What evolved, is a house that looks inwards to the outdoors with a central courtyard allowing north light to flood the heart of the home. The feature timber screened balcony at the front of the home gives not only streetscape presence but also offers a private balcony which is secure and lockable. And the flying roof form provides shade to the expansive entertaining platform taking advantage of river glimpses and views to hills. The Dean Street property is an entrant in the 2017 WA Architecture Awards.
