At what point did you realize this was important to you?

Well I will Give you my perspective as well and what helped me! What! Just because im a "Fitness coach or Guru" I'm exempt? Miss me with that bull💩 lol

My short term reasons are to stay lean enough to compete annually and to let my current & potential clients know that aesthetics is achievable for everyone. My long term reasons that keep me going is it s a sense of peace/happienies/relief for me, to remain healthy and free of diseases. Diabetes as well as High Blood pressure run in my family, my pops fought cancer a few years back and my mother suffered a severe stroke that has hindered her indefinitely. Im trying to move into my 70's looking and feeling amazing.
It is important to me because I like to lead by example. This is something I am good at, not soley because of genetics but because I practiced. I love the idea that at the drop of a dime I can sprint to catch a flight, help a few guys lift a car, or balance myself between a couple of poles only off of upper body strength. It makes me feel like a ninja fam!

So as I promised I have some back to back recipes for you! I whipped up some veggie enchiladas w/coconut brown rice and topped it with some of Frontera’s enchilada sauce. Why didn’t I make “that” from scratch? Lol, I’m on the go! Also when you can locate brands that aren’t loaded with crazy amounts of sodium/sugar/or fats that taste good: Why not save yourself some time?

Disclaimer: There is an art to cooking coconut brown rice, I may have found the key. One suggestion is not to actually mix inside of the wrap which I did. I feel that may overpower the flavor of the coconut rice.

Recipe:
Brown Rice (1 cup to each 3/4 cup coconut milk)
Coconut milk (3/4 cup)
Spinach (Eyeballed that lol)
Black Beans (Load’em up)
Scallions (1/4 cup to garnish)
Enchilada sauce (1 pack was plenty)
Whole Wheat Wraps
Organic Shredded cheese (don’t play yourself, keep it at a half cup guys. Each serving is a 1/4 cup equal to 9 grams of fat)
Yellow/Red Pepper
Cilantro

5AM✔️Eat First Meal
5:30✔️Add second coat of spray Tan and practice posing
7:00✔️Shoot our the door slide by Whole Foods and grab up meal number two (carb load, pancakes (no syrup), hash browns)
8:00✔️Check In at the Jay Cutler Classic
8:30✔️Build with my fellow fit fam
9AM✔️Find a spot get, tunes on deck correspond with my G Khalid and monitor my carb load
9:30✔️More carbs Natures Valley peanut butter bar & strawberries/blueberries
10AM✔️Practice Posing
11AM✔️Head to Starbucks for a coffee, Kind Bar, post up on the patio on Boylston st looking a oiled up weirdo lol
12AM✔️Now add the sweets to the equation for some fast acting carbs, organic gummies, Justin’s Dark Chocolate peanut butter cups... and hit some calisthenics/resistance band work like my life depends on it
1pm✔️Jump on stage and represent...............

How do I feel about this prep: Mixed😏. I tried some new things, discovering what works and doesn’t work for me. The best contest prep advice is to put yourself in a stress free environment. Don’t get it twisted, I go through “REAL LIFE” issues as well lol. Things that just could’ve caused me to lose motivation or had me in a major rut. Which leads me to the second tip: DONT TAP OUT! Laugh at whatever obstacles come in your way, better yet embrace the challenge. There were moments I didn’t see the results as quick, but I remained patient & diligent. Knowing that I’ve done it before and to trust the process.

VICTORY POST - I could feel a little niggle in my brain last night urging me to gorge on all the food - which I did, kind of. So I made this last night to make sure I got a decent meal in me today. Looks like hospital food and it tasted absolutely shite.
Four biscuits and a chicken Pitta pizza down - working WITH this binge eating rather than against it.
I'd have eaten a whole pizza, a cheesecake, a large bar of chocolate and drank a tube of mayo when I battled AGAINST it. One of my biggest struggles in life: Downplaying my Greatness lol... We are ALL great in some way it’s just some of us learn how to channel our innate qualities later than others, or worse not discovering them at all. I’m practicing a bit of restraint because I’m not even in my prime yet I feel, close but I have a few more things on the checklist 📝! First off stop celebrity, friends, and family worshipping. The second you realize that everyone is a human like you and has flaws is the second you’ll accept yours and elevate.

Log of the gram for a second lol. As far as TV, Worldstar, sports, and celebrity gossip I’m not too concerned with much of it. I spend a lot of time PERFECTING MY CRAFT.

Next just take a leap of faith. I used to rap 🙄 (and I was nice, in fact I’m still nice but it’s not my calling). I’d get up there and spit and Ppl would talk, not pay attention, couple may have been like “that was wack” lol couple may have liked it. The key was I kept getting up there. Slowly but surely the timidness evaporated. Before you know It, I could be doing dishes and someone could jump out and say: Spit something! People start to notice, and respect your resilience.

Just some finishers after leg day! I’m aiming to get my front lever game up so I’ve been working on a few progressions! Biggest thing is practice, and learning how to effectively use your Lats. Calisthenics is a art s/o to the cats on their streetworkout movement hard!

What are trigger points (muscle knots) and how can myofascial release help?
At times we may develop what we call “myofascial pain syndrome” or “muscle knots” that cause us pain, soreness, or cramps. Trigger point symptoms may be: 💥Weakness -Hyper irritable spots in taut band of skeletal muscle -Increased muscle tension
💥Painful compression
💥Distinct referred pain pattern
💥Painful limit to stretch range of motion or reduced
💥Local Twitch Response

Types of Trigger Points
⚡️Active (waking up with pain in a stiff neck)
⚡️Latent (No pain at rest but when palpitated causes issues)which is much more common and activate in response to stress, overuse, etc.

Or Both 🤔Causes:
-work (driving, on your feet or either sitting all day)
-Sports -Daily living (how you move and you always open a door with your right hand for instance? Pay attention to every detail!) Myofascial Release can help!

Plyometrics is a form of exercise that elicits a response where there is a rapid stress followed by a rapid contraction in the speed of that rapid action is fast enough to activate the stretch reflex. Some forms of plyometrics are and not limited to:
Box Jumps
Jump Squats
Explosive Push ups
High knees
And as pictured to the side jumping lunges

Who are they for?
First and foremost they aren’t for everyone and chances are if you have any of these following conditions you should stay far away from plyometrics
❌Deconditioned: Meaning you may be out of shape, new to working out, not have proper coordination, and you should work your way up
❌Obese: Believe it or not there are a lot more “obese” people than we know take a look at the chart to the left. Plyos are bad for overweight people because the primary concern is the load bearing pressure on the joints. Excess weight means excess stress on the joints with each and every step. The further off the ground you go (running, jumping) the more the load bearing pressure is multiplied. If someone already has too much weight for their frame, plyos will add fuel to the fire.
❌Knee Valgus/Bad Knees: As shown in the third slide, Knee valgus is when your knees turn inward. How smart is it to really land like that after jumping. Let’s get one thing straight if the top athletes in the world are susceptible to injury (who happen to have great running/jumping mechanics) mind you working with the best doctors/coaches on the face of the planet what makes you think you can’t get hurt?

⚡️LEARN PROPER JUMPING MECHANICS! No lie when I was attending Quincy College for exercise and science we spent a whole class on jumping. It’s not as easy as it seems. ⚡️Practice jump rope
⚡️Get a lower jump box
⚡️Avoid an excessive amount of repetitions.
