24 years have passed since Mia was raped and murdered. 24 years and nothing's changed in regards to women's safety. Not a day goes by where I am not flooded with stories of rape, assault, murder.I don't even mean news outlet wise. It's personal,it's my own social circle,it's people sharing their stories on here and other social media sites,it is constant. Mia's music might still live on but it doesn't change the fact that she, like so many others, should still be gracing this earth. So I make my yearly plea that falls on deaf ears but men, do better. If you feel like it doesn't apply to you because oh you would never hurt a woman hey, congrats on doing the minimal of being a decent human being. I'm going to need you to up your ally card though. Check yourself, start checking your friends.
For many of us that walk home becomes a battleground, and too many of us don't make it. Let us go home.Alive.Unscathed.This isn't me asking permission, this is me telling you,do better. "It hurts me to be angry
Kills me to be kind"
