i slick be writing too, when i was tryna figure life out at about 22, i tried my hand at hip hop journalism and think piecey type shit before everybody with an opinion and a bootyhole started sneezing em out. fun fact, there is audio around here somewhere of an interview with Plies I did for his first album. the way I eloquently broke down “pussy ass crackas, give a nigga a 100 years…” makes me chuckle at the thought.
anyways, this piece here is me, giving out some simple guerrilla filmmaking tips we always put in practice when it’s time to get a project together. it’s a piece for high school kids who may not have a ton of resources but still want to put together a dope school commitment video. children are so creative already, so naturally they would take the idea of saying “yes” to a school up about 10 level. in real life, we all are apart of a new or at least amended creative system that’s being built. sure it’s been done a certain way for just a few decades, but that’s just the point. film as an art form is YOUNG, like one grandparent removed from someone who owned the first film projector young. you can never go wrong with a tried and true plan, but to all the artists out there, know when it’s time to deviate and innovate. cc: @sheltonskid #thebridgeatt #blackartists #artemusjenkins #fbf
