À la boulangerie avec mes amis 🖤
When I went overseas, so many people asked me if I found myself a Frenchmen.
Honestly it became annoying to be asked so much, and I started becoming a bit offended that I could only be seen traveling to find love as if that's the only thing I need in life (insert all those boss babe/independent woman/Beyoncé vibes). I wondered why it was they imagined me simply running off with a man rather than traveling for the experience. For an incredible opportunity to learn more in depth about the art of bread first hand from some of the most passionate people I've yet to meet.
It was that thought, though, that made me realize that I did fall in love.
In fact, I fell in love so deeply it pains me sometimes to think about how much I crave to be back.
I fell in love with not just one person, but many. Ohh my goodness, I fell in love with men and women-old and young. People I call friends and will greet again one day, and some I will never see again.
I fell in love with the faces of France...
I fell in love with the countryside and the way the sun set over the hills highlighting the iridescent sky as it bloomed at night. How the trees gently, yet wildly danced in the wind before a storm.
I fell in love with the strange paths I got lost on, even the creepy one that turned out to be the most beautiful.
I fell in love with espresso on the roadside.
My god, it was like I fell in love for the first time with baking all over again when I immersed my hands into a trough of flour, and when I tasted the bread on that night I arrived.
I fell in love with a sweet pup and the farm cats.
With the music that filled the air at parties during late night, the language I didn't fully understand at times.
I fell in love with the way of life.
How simple and pure it was.
And that's not even the half of it.
So, the answer is yes, you know. A Texan girl got floured in France, and met people. Saw so much beauty.
She fell in love.
So deeply in love 🖤
