Yesterday was moving in day, spent last night in the northern BC mountains sleeping quite comfortably in our @treelineoutdoors Tamarack tents. Rigid Scene LEDs lighting up camp quite nicely. Beautiful scenery yesterday through Smithers area, today we have a snow storm to contend with as we make a push for Dease Lake. #TITANArcticChallenge#TheArcticIsCalling
Long day but we made it to Inuvik for a most excellent sunset! Another stunning day and really happy that we have made it to the Arctic Circle! It took me two years but I have now travelled from the bottom of the world in Antarctica all the way up to the Arctic! Happy bunny! I cannot wait for the ice roads tomorrow! So excited now! #titanarcticchallenge#thearcticiscalling@rally4water. Thank you @jofama for the awesome clothing.
Not my photo, but a great shot by @rally4water of @bryanirons and I driving the Cummins Nissan Titan XD through some pretty extreme conditions on the Dempster Highway. Strong winds, cold temperatures and big snow drifts!
One of our last camps on the #TITANArcticChallenge in Jasper National Park. Ground was still too frozen to peg in the tents, but the days are warming to 4-degrees... ridiculously hot after camping in -30. #TheArcticIsCalling
Found a fantastic - and epically Canadian - campsite near the BC Yukon boarder just off the Alaskan Highway. An epic day of travel from Whitehorse with many sightings of Bison and Caribou along the road, finished with us setting up the Treeline Outdoors Tamarack tents in this wonderful campsite next to a frozen lake, nestled in the BC mountains. A balmy -6 that night. . #TITANArcticChallenge#TheArcticIsCalling
Run off the road by a trucker cutting a blind corner on the Dempster during the #TITANArcticChallenge . Buried it up to the hood on the passenger side, but with the help of some awesome kinetic tow ropes from #gemstoneoffroad we were able to tug the big Nissan Titan XD out of the ditch. Not even a scratch on her!
Making our way south on the final leg of the expedition.
Today at Dawson City's Thaw-di-gras celebrations i bore witness to what be the most Canadian converstaion of all time: Person 1- "Nice mittens! Did you make those yourself?" Person 2 - "Naw, i shot the cariboo and preped the hide, but my aunt put them together" I love this place!!! #titanarcticchallenge #thearcticiscalling #thawdigras
"Dempster in a Day" would be the theme for the day as we sayd "fairwell" to Inuvik and traveled south to Dawson City all during daylight hours. Being run off the road and a bout of undigestable truck stop fodder didnt stop us. It's Thaw-di-gras time!!! #titanarcticchallenge #thearcticiscalling
Frozed tundra of yesterday turned into ice measured in feet thick were before us today. Tuktoyaktuk here we come!!!! We stopped on the open ocean of the Beauford sea and could see the rocks laying on the ocean floor through the ice.
We pulled into Inuvik after 400 plus km on the dempster. It's a little strange to crest a hill to see an entire comunity down there. The people have been amazing to chat with and hear thier stories of the Dempster and what lies ahead for us.
