It's feeding time and Beastro is HUNGRY! 🙌Usually that's no big deal but tonight it is!
Almost two weeks ago we had some guest over to BBQ and look at our new puppies, and Beastro sometimes has this weird tendency to chew on the kids toys out of excitement when we have guests. This day was no different and as we were BBQing and chit chatting Beastro is over on the side taking out his agression for not getting on the attention on a stuffed animal and a train track. This habit has never been a huge problem outside of he fact it's annoying that he destroys the kids toys, since he never swallows them. This time was a little different.
The next couple days he started throwing up and stopped eating. He became lethargic and far from the being his energetic Beastro-self. We decided to take him in to the vet for an X-ray and some blood work. Both failed to produce results that gave us any idea as to what was wrong with him. I had a feeling it was something he ate, probably a piece of the toy. Having been through similar situations before with a couple other dogs years ago we kept a close eye on him and began to ride it out. Days went by and Beastro still wouldn't eat or poop. If you know Beastro you know he's a beast of a dog with an exuberant attitude and zest for life. But he looked so thin and miserable. He wouldn't even get up to beg for table food. It was sad. I'd never seen him in such a state. I felt confident he'd pass whatever he had eaten and make a full recovery but seeing him like this, I couldn't help but to think "what if we lost him" or about how one day his (and all of our) time here will eventually come to an end... I laid with him for a while thinking about the good times we've had.
After a couple more days he started eating little bites of chicken and some table scraps. Then a some of his kibble. He finally started pooping again. Tonight he was ready and excited for his kibble, full of that character that everyone loves him for!
I had been checking his stools but I never did see what it was that he ate. Im going to chalk it up to the train track. I'm just glad he's ok and feeling better again. 🙏
