Timid Giants. Wind swept across the snow covered plains, carefully lifting single snowflakes into the crisp, wintry air. The warm moisture from my breath billowed out from behind the camera, freezing on the tip of my nose as I inched closer to the herd. I was out of my element, thigh deep in snow, patiently trudging forward to capture the magnificent beasts. Pausing, I watched the nearest bison slowly emerge from its slumber amongst the feet of powder. Time stood still while he gradually gazed in my direction, letting me know that I was close enough. I breathed a heavy sigh of relief. The timid giants had welcomed the uninvited guest, allowing me to join them for dinner as they grazed across the meadows of white. In this moment I felt completely at ease, at one with nature around me, I was part of the herd.
