Post independence notes.
I've decided to write a couple of tests from Insights, a popular test series for UPSC-CSE
I have purchased Insights in the previous couple of years so I can review how it used to be, in case this helps any fellow aspirants
Good-The syllabus division per test is quite well done and following it helps you cover it on time. It does help you figure out what areas you should study more.
Bad- the questions WERE not good enough in their framing. Insights thought that tough questions are those coming from some weird source. Some questions would be quite irrelevant, things that UPSC wouldn't ask.
So you could get 140+ in tests and still not clear Prelims.
UPSC's unpredictability lies in how it frames questions, not where it picks them from. Even in 2018, you can see the purpose behind the questions, if not where they come from.
So, I hope Insights has fixed this in 2019. NOTE: this is my personal opinion on a product I HAD bought.
