Fresh vs Frozen
It is universally agreed that Chicken is one of the most protein-rich foods and it makes for a more than acceptable alternative to red meat.
There’s a myth that fresh chicken is better than frozen chicken. Busting it right at the start, no, there is no real advantage of having fresh chicken vs frozen. Both have almost identical nutritional values. The only ambiguity around frozen chicken being the methods used to freeze the chicken. The other end of this spectrum is also true – Free range, frozen chickens would be a much better bet than factory-raised fresh chickens. So, there is no right or wrong here. Only convenience and budget.
When it comes to aesthetics, some prefer fresh chicken for its texture and juiciness. Others would argue that desired textures and juiciness can be achieved by thawing the frozen chicken correctly. So, there is no clear winner on this front either.
If you don’t want to take any chances, the best thing to do is to buy free-range or organic chicken and freezing it yourself. Frozen Chicken can be stored for a long, long time if you have a freezer that could go subzero.
That dealt with, it is important to talk about processed chicken. Processed and frozen chicken are not the same thing. Processed meats are invariably factory produced, contains preservatives and sometimes contains anti-biotics used in humans. In short, it is not the best thing to put into your stomach. Snacking occasionally on these treats are fine but binging/living on or letting your children binge/live on processed meat is a big no-no!
At Kuchi n Kream though, we don’t take a chance. It is fresh meat, procured locally, every day, stored using the best of facilities and thawed to be used to make fresh patties and cuts. No Compromises. Ever.
