During my parents stay in Israel, we squeezed a visit to the Sarona Market in Tel Aviv as a very "we have no idea if it is any good, but it's on our way to Jerusalem, so mah-ximum we'll waste half an hour there and leave", and I'm so glad we did!
They are an indoor culinary complex with a great selection of foreign and local deliciousness that you can eat right there - pasta, burguer, ramen, etc -, or take home - olive oil, meat cuts, asian spices, nuts and dried fruits. On the last two subjects, it is worth mentioning a store called Hamama Market: their spiced nuts are so tasty, and they sell the biggest dried dates that I have ever seen in my entire life. They made my mom's eyes sparkle! Pro tip: go there during weekdays, when they're less crowded and sell for a lower price.
