I love using Wild Orange to stimulate and open up this Chakra. It's like "Hello! Wake Up! Good Morning! Today is the BEST day ever!" I put a drop in my fruit water or sometimes just plain water for a little pizzazz. Otherwise you can inhale deeply through your nose hovering over the bottle for a perk up

My stone for this Chakra is Orange Tourmaline. Tourmaline is a crystal that grows in spikes, with a triangular pattern visible in a cross section. The triangle symbolizes balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Orange specifically helps to manifest energy appropriately in the physical realm

Chakras are an energy system that help us develop a holistic well-rounded approach to health. The chakras begin at the base of the spine moving up through the crown of the head. Each Chakra is associated with an aspect of our physical, emotional, mental or spiritual health; in culmination, they promote a sense of well being. However, when certain aspects of these are out of whack... we feel tired, anxious, depressed, fearful or find ourselves In other states of DISease. Simply put, it is another way to break down the way we manage our health ✌🏻

Adding on to my seated meditation... a basic flow that anyone can do to open up the third eye, or Ajna chakra. The third eye guides our intuition and trust in ourselves, by allowing us to move beyond the self into a place of wholeness with the divine. When we let the universe work through us, miracles do indeed happen

Begin by rolling Immortelle or Frankincense, in a circular motion on the space between your eyebrows, or home of the third eye. Take a cleansing inhale & exhale, in through the nose. Out through the mouth. Slowly move into a table top position pulling the heart through and gaze up during inhale and releasing the exhale into an arched cat pose. After a few rounds, move into a child's pose... reaching the third eye towards the ground. Knees may be close together or wide, whatever is most comfortable. Inhale & exhale slowly through the nose. Surrender. Find peace. Begin to trust yourself here in your release. Ask the universe for what you need to see. Bring your hands behind your head in prayer if this is comfortable for you. Slowly release when you are ready. Bring your hands to heart center. Thank yourself for connecting to this space of peace. Know that is always accessible to you

Happy Monday beautiful people! My weeks are a little bit different than most peoples... as my •Monday• is usually the first day of my four days off. It's easy after 3 days in a row of Nursing, to be super hard on myself.... to think about all the things I could have done better or beat myself up over minute details that no one else has even thought of except for me. Phew. It's a heavy burden and one that I've tried to distance myself from. To revel in the wonderful amazing Nurse that I am, but more important the human I am. In every role I play, I am enough. I love enough, give enough. Breathe enough. And the universe is a better place because I am me & you are you! If I had to choose one essential oil for the rest of my life, it would be LAVENDER. Anyone that worked with me in the Adult ICU setting, knows my love for this "drug" 😉 I've used it with so many of my patients to help calm them down & let them forget for a few minutes that they're in a hospital bed. The easiest way to stop stress in its tracks: breathing. Meditation used to seem like this abstract, unattainable thing. Until I started practicing yoga, where movement was guided with each inhale & exhale. Where breathing in & out through my nose created the sound of crashing ocean waves. And I was transported from all my problems to my happy place. Breathing is often over looked because well, we do it without thought. But when we're anxious or stressed out, we hold our breath unintentionally or breathe so shallow we aren't actually moving oxygen to our brains. When we return our mind to the conscious effort of breathing, it's amazing how quickly we can stop the negative mind chatter and return to our inner peace.
Try yogi breathing. Softly close your eyes. Inhale slowly through your nose, constricting the back of the throat to create sound. Filling your belly. Hold for a second at the top. Exhale slowly through your nose the same way, moving your belly towards the spine. Hold for a second at the bottom. It should sound like you're listening to the ocean. Repeat until you feel calm 🙏🏼 The best part is you can literally do this anywhere.... in a yoga practice OR at your desk outside of that patient's room you've been in q 5 mins OR in your bed with a lavender diffuser going before sleep. There's no wrong time to free your mind of worry. Tuning in begins with taking the TIME for yourself. Easier said than done for most people. Especially as a Nurse, we spend so much time cultivating compassion & energy for other people that we tend to be last on the list. Then, our mind, body and spirit is all out of whack... leaving space for burnout & fatigue & subsequently, negative emotions, anxiety & depression. When I see the statistics that ICU Nurses have PTSD rates similar to Veterans, it doesn't even phase me. Because I see it every day. I saw it in myself. So I created daily routines to help reduce all that negative juju ✨Flipping the script on everything that "happens" to me and being grateful for the good stuff. I start and end my day with what I call "the gratitude sandwhich". Wake up, list three things you're grateful for today. I'm walking on sunshine today ☀️My first time having fresh jackfruit! Woah... I found a pre sliced chunk at Whole Foods yesterday & knew I had to give it a whirl ✨Trying new fruits & veggies makes prepping healthy food fun... especially when I'm feeling uninspired. To get moving this morning, I also used a whiff of lemon & a stress busting roller blend that was gifted to me. The best part of wearing oils is that anytime you need a reminder to just be... you can close your eyes, take a deep breath through your nose, pause for a moment, and let it all go. Eating plant based meals doesn't have to be complicated. I quickly glanced through my fridge looking for taco ingredients... & threw together these roasted chickpea & sautéed kale tacos with a tahini dressing. 20 mins later, delicious & nutritious! I choose low or no sodium beans because I still eat out & know I get more than enough sodium in restaurants 💁🏼Additionally, in this recipe... lemon adds a lot of flavor that there is no salt required 😊Recipe visuals in my story^ ✨Drain & rinse one can of organic low sodium or no sodium chickpeas. Toss in paprika, cumin, cayenne, & garlic. Add lemon juice & a just enough olive oil to coat. Top with lemon slices. Bake at 375 until crispy (about 20 mins).
✨Chop up one shallot, add to sauté pan with a little bit of olive oil (or water if you're skipping oil) & allow to brown. Tear one head Dino kale (mine was very small and if I was sharing I would have used two heads) & add to pan. Squeeze the rest of the lemon juice over kale! Sauté till wilted. ✨ Add 1 tsp tahini, 1 tsp coconut vinegar (or ACV) plus water to the consistency of sauce you want in a tiny mason jar. Shake it to blend. ✨Halve heirloom grape tomatoes. ✨Toast @sietefoods cassava & chia tortillas in oven for a few seconds. Remove tortilla & chickpeas.
✨Assemble tacos 🌮

Starting to get the hang of meal prepping and not making excessively complicated meals. It really is an art that takes practice 🤷🏼‍♀️ The first time took me FOUR hours and I almost quit. Now I'm down to 2, which feels more manageable. I'm glad I persisted because every time my coworkers come back with some comfort food saying "ugh this tastes not as good as it looks"... I'm reminded how grateful I am that I took the time to learn how to prep delicious plant based meals for myself. Work days require little to no thought ✌🏻 I'm not going to lie after the crazy exhausting work week I had... that no thought was key. Being a nurse is exhausting mentally, physically & often emotionally as we balance the needs of patients in between life & death. I almost fell flat on my face into my bed walking into my home 2 out of 3 days this week. But now I'm going to relax & enjoy my days off with all the things I love ❤️ On the menu:

My meal prep wasn't as extravagant this week as I tried to figure out how the heck to switch from nightshift & my normal schedule to dayshift on someone else's schedule. But the idea remains the same... having healthy meals prepared for lunch at work means I don't eat gross hospital food. I always get comments like "wow, you're so healthy" "do you always eat like that?" Etc. The answer, for the most part, is yes. I make healthy meals in my kitchen & don't worry about what I eat the rest of the time because a healthy lifestyle is focused on balance. I will never call something a cheat meal or guilt trip certain foods. I love pizza & burritos as much as the next person, but I make conscious choices to eat my fruits & vegetables too 🙏🏼 On the Indian food themed menu this week: ✨Channa Masala (chickpeas in a tomato curry sauce)
✨Yellow Dahl (lentils in a yellow curry sauce) ✨Sauteed broccoli, bell peppers, mushrooms & onions

Most days I live to help others, but today I live to help myself. In darkness and in light, I search for the strength to love myself, calm myself, fulfill myself. It's a never ending constant stream of moving through the self to the self. Days that are crap are sometimes hard to admit to... today wasn't one of them. But it was a day of fresh awakening to another cycle of life. Another movement through claiming what is mine, owning it, believing in myself. Always at the beginning again. I hope you all know that every day isn't beautiful food or staged photos.... I struggle & I know you do too. So let's be real even though vulnerability is sometimes painful. Let's be real because love will fill every space of your pain, if you open your heart to it. If you capture moments of bliss in between moments of challenge. I know it's not easy because we grow through these things together.
