Some easy singles today with 350lbs RPE 7 followed by some sets of 6 close(r) grip w/300lbs. We are cruising right along.

Benching again shoulder and bicep tendon is all good! PT cleared me at 3:30PM today and went to bench immediately after 😈

Today’s lifts. Everything went well as we keep getting closer to meet day! Squats we had 370lbs with reps of 7/6/5/5/5 and Deadlifts triples w/460lbs.

Final lift of the day (140Kg/308#)- 2.5Kg meet PR and the lift that secured my qualifying total for Raw Nationals 2019 . Small PR, but this 308 went up waaaay faster than my 303 in July. These moved far better than they felt. I decided to hop on a spin bike for 30 mins last night while watching TV. Quads got blown up, but I totally underestimated the fatigue it'd bring. Nonetheless, got some work in today for squats.

Another solid session! 4x4 w/405lbs on squat. And deadlifts sets of 3/4/5/5 all with 445lbs.

Lmao paused this top set of 365x5 pause squats like I pause at stop signs 🙂. 345x2x5 was more legit. Back in heels due to recommendation by @evanchaffey and @fluffdaddyskwaats definitely move more weight but am sinking too deep need to fix that. #teamchaffey

Top set on bench today was 350lbs for 2 @7.5. Pauses were terrible but that’s ok. Just about 3 weeks out from the next meet!

Final reps before meet day and a few thoughts for this Thursday morning. ⚠️ Long Post ⚠️
Two years ago, at the age of 35, I began to toy around with the idea of competing in a powerlifting meet. I had been lifting for about 6 months and could squat around 120# with proper depth, I could barely put up 100# on bench, and I could deadlift around 200#. Today, I can squat around 235#, bench 125#, and deadlift over 300# and, in two days, I will compete in my 4th powerlifting meet. All that progress in just two years. I wish I had started sooner, but I had made so many excuses for so many years- I figured it wouldn't be worth trying something new because I would have to start at the bottom, I wouldn't be very good, or I wouldn't be able to get better because I was too old. But, what I’ve achieved in powerlifting has built so much character and confidence- more so than the achievements in the other aspects of my life. I used to focus entirely on what other people (mainly women) could do- I felt jealous, insecure, and angry at myself for not having the guts to do it myself. Now, I find myself celebrating the success of my competitors, I feel pride for all of my accomplishments (even though I'm not at the top), and I have more self confidence than I have ever had in my adult life. My purpose for writing this is to encourage anyone out there who wants to try something new, or take a risk, but is fearful because they think they are "too old," "not good enough," or would feel embarrassed or self-conscious. Imagine how much you can change in just a few years...such a small sliver in time! .

Did a 7x3 on pulls today. Did about 1.5-2 min rest periods. It was the first time in a long time I finished pulls in under an hour. Taking a bit of a break from high intensity.
