5 weeks into training with @atfit_89 and I couldn't be happier! Down 8 lbs, mostly all of which is body fat and feeling a million times better! Few more weeks of cutting and then it's time to build! I didn't realise but I have been training with @atfit_89 now for just over half a year. Boy in those 6 months my body has changed a ridiculous amount😳.. The first two photos were taken on the day I started. The photos beside are taken on the last day of my cut. We decided to strip my body completely back to basics and to start fresh. The bottom photos are some of what I have achieved in the past 3 months of my bulk. Never did I think I'd be able to achieve the things I have. I've learnt so much about my nutrition and my training and I couldn't have done it without such a supportive coach! Bring on the next six months and more!🙌💪 #TeamATFit

I had the biggesttt kick up the backside today from my coach @atfit_89.
It’s crazy how much potential he sees in me and it’s obvious I haven’t been pushing myself the way we know I can recently.

September 2016 - July 2017. A lot has changed. (Including a very large tattoo🙈😂) nearly 10kg gained over my bulking period and over the 10 months my calories have peaked to a max of 2700.
I've loved watching my body change and gain strength and size and it just makes me want more and more!

Today however, we are going to cut things back a bit. Nothing major but it's time to bring the fat percentages down again. Calories going down to 2000 calories and I'll be adding in just 30 minutes of cardio per week.

No idea WHY when people want to shift weight these days they decide to cut out entire food groups or macros!

A balanced diet is just that, BALANCED! Good food, colours, all your macros and some cheeky treats!

All you need to do is remain in a calorie deficit i.e. eat less than what you burn! Its simple mathematics!

I find bulking hard.
Mentally it's difficult for me to accept that eating the amount of calories is going HELP my body and not just make me FAT.
But - I'm getting there!
And one thing that is not difficult for me is watching my lower body grow more and more each week🍑

Weigh in day- 7 1/2 lb down in almost 6 weeks (and I had a weekend away getting engaged in the middle, eating and drinking everything is sight!!), tummy and waist have come right in, my thighs are slimmer and all round feeling stronger and fitter! Milk!! We all know milk is a fantastic source of proteins, fats and calcium! BUT it also carries a lot of other things with it too!!

Personally i choose to get my calcium outside of dairy, it just doesn't overly agree with me, not intolerant but sensitive! Instead i opt for almond milk! And BONUS its lower in calories!

Nice little alternative if you are sensitive to milk or simply want to reduce your calorie intake!

When it comes to flavour, rich, creamy butter wins every time and because it is full fat, it is more satisfying and fills us up for longer. Butter is also one of the best dietary sources of Vitamin A, and also contains vitamins E, K and D and is a rich source of selenium.

We know saturated fat isn't great in excess, but neither would eating excessive amounts of kale be good for you, It’s the dose, not the poison that’s the problem, so balance is key.

Technology and personal training, just how useful is it?

If you ask me, nothing beats pen and paper! No distractions and nothing fancy!

The key to personal training lie in the job title - PERSONAL! Carrying an iPad round doesn't make you a better PT, it won't help your client get those results any quicker and if anything it takes away from their contact time with you!

Use technology when appropriate and only to ENHANCE your clients session! Otherwise your wasting your time and your clients money!

Plenty of weight on, let the knee come up above the hip but dont let the hip over rotate at the top then drive down theough the glute and quad. Squeeze at the bottom!!

This is a nordic curl to push up as demonstrated by Sarah

Focus on the eccentric phase of the movement, lowering under as much control as possible and catching yourself in a press-up at the bottom with a slight push back to the top!
Nice way to burn the hamstrings out and not bad at all for her 1st attempt!

Statistics tell us that around 80% of January gym sign ups will disappear this week which is a terrible statistic! But why...?
⛔️No results
⛔️Boredom
⛔️No structure
⛔️No goal setting
⛔️Insufficient experience/knowledge
....the list could go on but the major point that stands out for me is GOAL SETTING!

When you get in your car and drive to work, do you drive endlessly for hours round the most pointless roads? NO! You PLAN it and take the best route to get you there on time!

Gym life shouldn't be any different! Why do you not see results? Well first of all you probably haven't set a target so you just plod along thinking you'll get there "someday" - nah, you won't!! Don't be a quitter this year! Set yourself small manageable goals be it weight loss or nutritional based and then put PROCESSES in place to meet them - VOILA you are on your way - there is no huge secret to this!

My clients will tell you I am goal/target driven, thats why we as a team get results! A PT can always be a VERY useful tool provided they are up to the job - how do you know your PT will work for you? - VET THEM!!

Check in with the coach on Sunday and everything seems to be going well. My weight is still increasing, I'm getting stronger and building solid muscle. Lauren approached me a few weeks ago with one simple goal - to lose weight! By the end of January we were to lose a stone and that goal has been reached so now onto the next!! Are you one of these all or nothing people that give 100% then burn out and fall off the band wagon?
Or are you one of these people who are consistent about 80% of the time but for an extended length of time?! Which will get you better results?! So.. Calories have been upped again!🤗⬆️ really starting to notice the changes in my body and can't believe how different it all is compared to my last bulk😅 I'm eating more food than I ever have and it's showing in my sessions💪.. with all the changes I'm seeing it's really getting me thinking of working towards a show next year.. Need a long chat with my coach and we'll see what happens🙉 but for now, I'm just loving the process!❤️💪 @atfit_89 #TeamATFit

@iyaa_sarah came to me looking to strip away some bodyfat and begin building some mass and a shape that she could step on stage and compete with and she is doing just that.

Photo on the left is from a "bulk" that another PT had put her on, basically telling her to eat whatever and as much as she could with no thought or regard to structure or the correct macro breakdown for Sarah - resulting in a lot of unwanted bodyfat and very little quality mass being added. Fact is you cant eat what you want and expect to get the result you want, it doesn't work like that!

Sarah is now well on her way! The difference between the photos is only -8lbs but the shapes are miles apart with quality mass now added and bodyfat reduced! Now we simply just keep working hard and making alterations as we go to both nutrition and training!

Holy crap this is getting close now!!
Last few weeks to really keep the head down and keep pushing for the best shape i can deliver on stage!
My goal was to take part and step on stage and i know now i will manage AT LEAST that, anything more will be an absolute bonus!
