After #360Olympics2016, I end today only in gratitude.
1) Thank you to our coaches. We can only surmise the amount of hard work that you all went through for the past couple of months but that won’t probably capture the entirety of it. All of you were (and still are!) an inspiration to all of us. You kept us focused. You helped us face our self-doubts square in the eye. You pushed and pushed and pushed and we are a better team because of it.
During last night’s huddle on the field, all of you downplayed your part in making all of this happened. I was personally touched by your humility but we would like to honor all of you now for the outflowing of effort and patience and confidence in us. We would like all of you to know that we value you, that all of you are extremely appreciated. Your presence and support mean the world to all of us.
2) Thank you to the entire 360 Timog. It feels like we have just gone through a war of some sort and all of us came out as being bonded eternally by this experience. Though we may have lost our voices, we certainly gained a special kind of kinship towards one another and I couldn’t be more thankful than I am right now that I got to experience this entire journey with all of you.
To see different people working as a unit is a sight to behold. I am deeply moved by the strength of character, the indomitable will power, and the sincerity and care that every single one of you has shown. Ibang-iba kayo.
3) Thank you to God. On the eve before the olympics, Coach Kevin said that we do all of this to glorify God. This ministered to me because at that moment, I knew that we were competing beyond our own personal recognition. Hubris was out of the way because all of us knew Who we are fighting for, all of us knew that His name was at stake. And if I could be so bold to declare, I believe we made God proud.
We fought hard. We gave it our all. We played fair. And for Whom? For Him.
