I truly believe that playing sports in my youth helped to make me the strong, independent woman that I am today. Playing lacrosse gave me the confidence to become the person I wanted to be, reach the goals that I had set for myself, and encouraged me to push beyond my own limits. It also taught me how to work within a team, which is a valuable skill that I use off-field and daily in both my personal and professional relationships. A recent study by Always found that seven out of ten girls feel that they do not belong playing sports. As a result, half of girls quit playing by the age of 17; at the end of puberty. Always #LikeAGirl created the ‘50 Teams, 50 States' program with Walmart because they are proud to show girls everywhere that they can Keep Playing #LikeAGirl and encourage them to not let anything stand in their way! The 50 Teams, 50 States provided support for one girls’ sports team in each of the 50 states in the form of new equipment, uniforms, and more.
