Mitzvah. A good deed. Lingering love. If you watch my Stories, you may have seen my spontaneous trip to New Paltz a few weeks ago. The whole thing was inspired by a cafe that encourages customers to pay it forward. @lagustasluscious did not disappoint. Along with rich, creamy, beautiful delights (must come back post #septemberwhole30!!) they also served up a healthy portion of love and compassion and beauty. This little town pulled me out of a deep funk and forced me to remember some deep truths. 1. Kindness is the most valuable currency. 2. My personal life mantra: to Love Well, to love deeply, truly and extravagantly. 3. While I might be stubborn, bossy and the chagrined owner of a short-fuse, big-bang temper that indicates I may have some Irish or Spanish ancestry, opening up your eyes to the people and places you don't normally notice is a magical elixir to cure said funks and tempers. 4. It's easy to get caught up in the stress and the worries and the busy. It's just as easy to get caught up in the whimsical, the spontaneous and to live a life of delight. I want to choose this more often than the other 5. Wouldn't the world be a lovely place is we could all strive to be a human Mitzvah Wall, capturing love and good intentions before passing them on to strangers and friends alike? That's what I want to do: leave a little lingering love wherever I go.
