Day 2 of #12daysofbookstagram.
My bookstack is comprised of the books in my tbr that I have owned for over 2 years.
I thought the stack would be bigger but it seems I am not too bad.
I may have added the Annie Proulx book prematurely but I feel like I have owned it forever as it sits on my shelf mocking me with its 713 pages #12daysofbookstagram #booklover #tbrstack #iwillreadthemthissummer

After Anthony's fiancée passed away, he sought consolation in rescuing lost objects - the things others have dropped, misplaced, or accidentally left behind - and writing stories about them.

I feel like my TBR list just gets larger every month! I only had time to read four books last month so now my pile is even larger! Wish me luck! #maytbr #tbrstack

I'm joining the fun on day 2 of #12daysofbookstagram! Here's one of the many book piles stacked around my house.

A New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice. A “gripping and heartfelt” ( The New York Times Book Review) story about two young brothers contending with the love they have for their abusive father, One of the Boys is a stunning, compact debut by a major new talent.

.
I started reading "One of the Boys" by Daniel Magariel. It's a short book, less than 160 pages, story moves quick & compulsively readable. I'm well over the half-way mark, should be done in a day or so. I didn't realize it was going to be this dark & intense. It's deeply affecting & brutal read about father-son dynamic set in Albuquerque, NM. What are you reading this week? I'm trying to read as much as I can before thanksgiving. The weather doesn't look too good this week, so it's perfect. Happy reading! 🤓✌️📖

The three of them—a twelve-year-old boy, his older brother, their father—have won the war: the father’s term for his bitter divorce and custody battle. They leave their Kansas home and drive through the night to Albuquerque, eager to begin again, united by the thrilling possibility of carving out a new life together. The boys go to school, join basketball teams, make friends. Meanwhile their father works from home, smoking cheap cigars to hide another smell. But soon the little missteps—the dead-eyed absentmindedness, the late night noises, the comings and goings of increasingly odd characters—become worrisome, and the boys find themselves watching their father change, grow erratic, then dangerous.
.
Set in the sublimely stark landscape of suburban New Mexico and a cramped apartment shut tight to the world, One of the Boys conveys with propulsive prose and extraordinary compassion a young boy’s struggle to hold onto the pieces of his shattered family. Tender, moving and beautiful, Daniel Magariel’s masterful debut is a story of resilience and survival: two foxhole-weary brothers banding together to protect each other from the father they once trusted, but no longer recognize. With the emotional core of A Little Life and the speed of We the Animals, One of the Boys is among the most remarkable debut novels you’ll ever read. via @scribnerbooks

Day Four: Favorite quote. It’s not a literary quote, but it does come from my favorite character OF ALL TIME. “AY SHAWTY WHAT DAT THING DO” — Winston aka Winnie the Bish aka akaka Brown Lightning. (Also featuring yet ANOTHER stack of books just hanging out) #12daysofbookstagram

What's left of my November TBR. I've been saving Without Merit and If There's No Tomorrow for days when I can afford to stay up all night reading. Jennifer and Colleen do it to me every time.
