Christmas is almost here and I couldn’t be more excited!
Here’s my review of The Other Woman by Sandie Jones
It was such a coincidence that when I began reading this novel, it was a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick for November! I can't say that I was shocked, because it's a very good read. It was very similar to a novel I read this year called The Girlfriend by Michelle Francis. Except it wasn't.
I've read many books about mother hating girlfriends and I have to say that this one was very different, but in a good way. I find novels like this very enjoyable to read because I love to read about moms who do the impossible to try and get rid of the girlfriends. There's something slightly entertaining about a mom trying to get rid of a girlfriend, and it's interesting to see the lengths that Pammie would go to, to get rid of Emily.
This was a very twisty novel and it was such a thrill to read it, because once I started I did not want to put it down. The thrilling element of the novel was somewhat but I would've like to see Pammie go a little further to try and get rid of Emily. She did some shocking stuff, that's no secret. but it would've been nice to see a much darker side to her madness.
It's not an ending that you would expect from a novel like this one. Plot wise you might think that it's similar to most novels but by the last few pages, you will be shocked by a twist that you will never see coming.
The thing that scared me the most is the possibility that women like Pammie exist in real life. She is such a nightmare!
Jones writes with cruelty that it’s almost hard not to love it. There were rare moments in the novel where I found myself getting bored, it was just so hooking from beginning to end. If you’re looking for s great thriller about a mom hating girlfriend and an unexpected twist, then this is the book for you.
