"Every fall into love involves the triumph of hope over self-knowledge. We fall in love hoping we won't find in another what we know is in ourselves, all the cowardice, weakness, laziness, dishonesty, compromise, and stupidity. We throw a cordon of love around the chosen one and decide that everything within it will somehow be free of our faults. We locate inside another a perfection that eludes us within ourselves, and through our union with the beloved hope to maintain (against the evidence of all self-knowledge) a precarious faith in our species." #ONLOVE #tbr

Tasty reads foodies meeting this week were delights from The Really Quite Good British cookbook. Everyone liked the layout and easy to source recipes. Goat's cheese & beetroot relish bruschetta, babas in grapefruit syrup, meatballs, choc guiness cake, burrata with lentils, and croquettes. Mark's fave was the sticky bourbon ribs! So much yummy variety. #foodies #bookbites #tastyreads #bookbitesfoodiesbookclub #cookbook #thereallyquitegoodbritishcookbook @bonnierpublishingau @echo_books #britishchefs #londonchef

Mark made the Pea and mint croquettes for Tasty Reads foodies bookclub tonight. This recipe by Yotam Ottolenghi can be found in The Really Quite Good British cookbook. 40min prep+ 40 min cooking you also need to make time for the freezing and defrosting. It's a clear and easy method, cheap to make and tastes super delicious as a starter for a party that can be prepped the night before. The side sauce is sour cream, mint and olive oil and allows the full resonance of the green healthy stuff to delight your taste buds! Will be cool to see what the other members made from this book whose royalties go to charity! #tastyreads #bookbites #bookbitesfoodiesbookclub #cookbook #thereallyquitegoodbritishcookbook #yotamottolenghi #croquettes #greenfood #partystarter #foodies @bonnierpublishingau @echo_books

Cornish saffron cake is about as British as you can get. This recipe by London chef Allegra McEvedy can be found in The Really Quite Good British Cookbook which is the choice of our Tasty Reads foodies bookclub. Saffron and currents in a heavy like scone dough, warm and served with butter (jam optional) make this the perfect winter treat! Note it says 45min prep and 1 hour cook plus proving- the proving takes 2-3 hours so don't get caught short on time! #thereallyquitegoodbritishcookbook @bonnierpublishingau @echo_books @allegramcevedy #tastyreads #bookbites #bookbitesfoodiesbookclub #foodies #cookbook #winterdessert #cornishsaffroncake

Meat falling off the bone and melting in the mouth! This Braised Lamb shanks with pearl barley and honey roast garlic was the perfect Sunday night dinner courtesy of London chef Tom Aikens in The Really Quite Good British Cookbook. This is the August pick for Tasty Reads foodies bookclub. 3 hours from go to woah but so worth it for a winter warmer! Mouthfuls of pure shank deliciousness with soft carrots, shallots and garlic! #tastyreads #bookbites #bookbitesfoodiesbookclub #foodies #lamb #lambshanks #thereallyquitegoodbritishcookbook @echo_books @bonnierpublishingau @tomaikens

Pea pancakes, sticky pork ribs, braised duck with egg fried rice, porto custard tarts, chipotle chicken, braised pork, ricotta cake with drunken strawberries and leek/mushroom/taleggio lasagne. This cookbook has it all to make your mouth water. Easy to do, ingredients you have and lots of yumminess. The Really Quite Good British Cookbook is the pick for #tastyreads foodies bookclub. It's a collection of British chefs 'donating' a recipe with royalties going to a charity. Clear skill level and time gauges helped influence tonight's meal; London's Jose Pizzaro's pan friend Pimenton chicken with mash. Just an easy hour created this smooth, creamy dish. Garlic, sherry and sweet parika made it deliciously flavoursome but definitely needed a side of greens to feel balanced and complete. #foodies #foodiesbookclub #bookbitesfoodiesbookclub #thereallyquitegoodbritishcookbook @bonnierpublishingau #jasperphotobomb

Sweet potato jackets with dhal was tonight's dish from Mark courtesy of Valli Little's My Kind of Food. Ghee, ginger and garlic mixed with tomatoes, carrots and red lentils make up the core of the dhal. Throw in dashes of cumin, turmeric, curry powder and curry leaves and cook for 45mins (longer if bigger potatoes like ours) and enjoy this vegetarian dinner delight. #vallilittle #mykindoffood #bookbites #bookbitesfoodiesbookclub #tastyreads #sweetpotato #dhal #dinnerwinner @readabcbooks

Valli Little's My Kind of Food has done it again for Mark's foodies tasters and all in 40minutes! Her greenest green curry mixes baby spinach, mint leaves, thai green curry paste, peas, green beans kaffir leaves and lime juice with coconut milk & fish sauce for its delicious liquid. Accompanied with chicken, chat potatoes and jasmine rice this is an after work winner! #mykindoffood #vallilittle #foodies #curry #bookbites #bookbitesfoodiesbookclub #tastyreads #dinnerwinner #greenfood @readabcbooks
