How about a bit of mid-week sunshine in the form of Meyer Lemons! My tree is back in production this year after taking last year off in protest of drought conditions so my neighbor and I each started a jar of preserved lemons. Should be ready just in time for some holiday cooking. What's your favorite way to use this wonderful Middle Eastern kitchen staple?

6:30 - no plan for dinner. 7:30 - Harissa and Preserved Lemon Chicken and Veggies Sheet Pan Dinner. Thx @traderjoes for the ready made harissa. Glad I had one preserved lemon left from my stash! And 3.99/lb chicken thighs from @newseasonsmarket. Also made a yogurt sauce to go w while it was in the oven.

Inspired by @westoftheloop 's new book "The Joys of Jewish Preserving", I used up some apricots and strawberries this morning to make this variation on Emily's apricot orange blossom jam. In addition to the fruit, I used orange blossom honey and orange blossom water and a little lemon zest and juice. So yummy! Be sure to check out her new book full of pickles and preserves and so much inspiration!

Fresh figs! I was privileged to eat @theeucalyptus restaurant in Jerusalem and watched as Chef Moshe Basson made this ethereal roasted fig dish w the first figs from his home garden. He stuffs each one w chicken sauteed w onion, allspice, cinnamon, and cardamom. Then he tops them w tamarind and date syrup (silan) and roasts them. The dish is also available w an alternative #vegan filling. It was so rich w umami and savory satisfying flavor - I could eat these every day. Look at how they transform in the oven. This dish showcases the Chef's creativity and the versatility of the ancient yet modern and relevant fig!

I can almost hear Diana Ross heading into the stratosphere as she croons "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." I ended up taking a tour of South Bay highways and ended up three hours late, but I wouldn't have missed time breaking bread (pita or challah, thank you) with some precious friends.
