The Tangkhuls are a major Naga ethnic group living in the Indo-Burma border area occupying the Ukhrul district in Manipur, India.
Every Tangkhul village has a belfry or a temporary wooden belfry as seen in the picture. The rhythm at which the bell tolls convey different meanings. It could be the cherubic call for worship, ominous warning cry for war, or the unwanted announcement of the death. 🛎
