POSTURE! As we age so does our posture. Why? There are many reason that contribute to poor posture, most are from bad habits; slouching at our desk, or while driving or my new favorite one, our smart phones! How many times do we see people walking with their heads down, shoulders rolled forward looking at their phones? Everyday!! Bones, joints and our muscles decrease as we age, another good reason to eat healthy, exercise and pay attention to our habits. How many of you have back pain, neck pain or headaches? Look at your posture, it might be a simple solution.
I like to ask my students to stand up against a wall and see if they can touch their shoulders & head to the wall without discomfort. If not, they need to work on building strength and flexibility in the upper body. CORE work helps with balance and posture as well not to mention low back.
Speaking of low back pain, a friend just shared this new amazing support vest to help with posture, back pain and scapular stabilization, called SpinalQ. You can check it out at https://www.biamedsupply.com/
Here are a few exercises on the floor you can try to get you started.
