Sometimes being a GC is fun. Last night was not one of those times... Got a text 1 minute before turning my phone to silent, customer has tons of water pouring in their kitchen ceiling, under the addition we're in process of framing... Dressed and on the road in 10 minutes on my way to the site. We'd set up a tarp on the decking, nailed under a row of clapboards 3' off the floor, and propped/pitched away from the house. Didn't matter, as the water built up on the bottom plate, and flowed back towards the house.
A partially disassembled gutter pouring water onto an unflashed wall junction didn't seem to be helping either. A few large holes drilled into the deck and cuts in the tarp and the deluge flowed off the second floor and into the garage. A jury-rigged gutter with some 2x10s and some Ice & Water shield shot the downspout out into the yard and the water influx diminished.
No major damage, just some stains and drywall to swap out, and the clients are fine, just tired as I am. You try and think of every scenario but sometimes Mother Nature gets one past the goalie. All part of the learning process and doing whatever it takes to keep clients safe and happy. Now back to work 💪
