Can't really believe we haven't featured a giraffe silhouette against the sunset yet - it's a mandatory safari view! This lovely one is by @lewingtonphotography. Giraffe necks are, of course, very long but they actually have the same number of vertebrae in the neck - seven - as humans, it's just that the bones are much larger. They are also less dense and contain little bone marrow to ensure the neck is as light as possible. The tongue measures an incredible 20-inches - perfect for wrapping around an acacia branch and shredding the leaves off of it...! .
We love Etosha National Park in Namibia 🇳🇦 and wanted to start this #etoshaexplorer community to feature park visitors' photographs and stories because it's a bit under-represented compared to some of Africa's other fantastic national parks. .
Please do share this blog so we can grow the Etosha community and please use #etoshaexplorer so we can feature your pictures and stories as we go. .
