Okay, LETS TALK. For real. Do you feel guilty for enjoying yourself? Resting, even after enjoying the couch for the past two days? Feeling like if you take a break from your fitness or health regimen you’ll gain a massive amount of weight, look ugly and then find that no one likes your photos on IG? Okay, extreme but true for some.
Anyway, you are NOT alone. But you and your wonderful body desperately need it. If you are hyper focused on working out, eating right, meeting your macros day in and day out, drinking your gallon of water, or whatever it maybe and you aren’t getting the results you want or you are stressed beyond belief...STOP. Take a deep breath. Slow down. I give you permission to take a break. I want you to take a break. YOU NEED TO TAKE A BREAK. Your body needs to rest. It absolutely needs it.
What are the three things newborns need the most to develop, thrive and grow? Sleep. Nutrients. Stimulation. So, why do we feel like we need to change this? Society. Society tells us that if we aren’t working, aren’t grinding everyday, aren’t being successful or aren’t moving every single second of everyday than we are falling behind those who are doing these things. Or that we aren’t doing enough or being enough. Well, I am here to tell you, that’s a load of bull. We NEED to rest. We need to slow down and take a step back every once in awhile and we need to learn to be okay with it.
This past week, I literally worked out once, ate the worst foods for me ever, laid on the couch for hours and enjoyed every freaking bit of it. P and I’s life seemed like it had been going 100mph and It finally took a vacation, for me to realize that less is more about 90% of the time. I honestly am so thankful that I allowed myself to not be in control for a week. It felt good. It was mucho needed. BUT this will not change how I do life everyday. I still like my meal prepping. I still like working out. I still enjoy chugging my gallon of water everyday. I still am me. I, we, just needed a break. And now I am ready to crush this week!
