I love my little EAA completely, but I so miss working towards competing. My whole aim to start flying in the first place was so I would be able to do aerobatics and compete but the more I did it, the more I realised what an expensive sport it is to get into. Even a share in an aerobatic aircraft can be expensive when you have other expenses to fork out for. I ended up putting all my spare money towards flying the Pitts for a few half hours at a time and then having weeks between flights and just having to start all over again. So I have had to prioritise and focus on my ATPL exams for the moment knowing that I’ll be able to get back to it once I get that airline job that I am getting closer to each day. I bought my EAA so I could hour build whilst still doing some basic aerobatics and as @lio.hilber reminded me, its about the fun per gallon :)
It’s frustrating not being able to progress as quickly as you want when you love something so much and you finally get close to something you’ve wanted to do your entire life, but life is all about compromises, patience and being content with what you have in the present!
