This summer was full of delicacies and Iranian dishes were no exceptions.
Typical Iranian main dishes are combinations of rice with meat, vegetables, and fruits, usually also accompanied with yogurt. In this month of July, the most prominent fruits were Iranian peach, bananas and apples. a bowl of fresh fruit is common on Iranian tables and therefore I was offered tea and fruits literally everywhere.
For Breakfast it was served handmade bread #sangakBread 🍞 along with yogurt, eggs 🍳 and fruits 🍉. For lunch the variety is bigger: but my favorites were The #ChelowKebab which is considered the national Persian dish and the mirza Ghassemi #میرزاقاسمی an eggplant dip to accompany the bread and the #borani (which is yogurt with spices)
About the drinks in here, I drank tea 🍵 almost every day , it was the first thing I was offered anywhere I visited... While #ābjow (non-alcoholic beer) was available at any major grocery in town and the #Doogh which is a cold yogurt ( there is yogurt everywhere )
Regarding the Persian etiquette, we were eating on the carpet in most of the occasions and to do so, there was a process. The tablecloth #sofre is spread out over the rug and the dishes are placed at the center. For desserts 🍨 a wide variety of sweets are served but I chose the faloodeh several times... an ice cream with fruits syrup. This trip has been an authentic cultural shock and an amazing opportunity to embraces other’s differences and similarities. #britoinIran
