Bukit Tabur.. home to one of the oldest quartz ridge in the world. Please do not be fooled by social media influencers out there. You need to be extremely careful due to a number of areas that requires a vertical climb. An accidental slip will result in a vertical drop of a few meters. For your info, the East trail remain closed due to several accidents. Please refer to the list below:
Oct 3, 2016: A 49-year-old hiker died after he fell down an approximately 10-metre.
Dec 10, 2015: A group of hikers stumbled upon the body of 59-year old retiree Ahmad Azmi Abd Kadir in a crevice. The body was already stiff and they found wounds to his face and head.
Jan 15, 2014: A hiker fell 60m into a ravine. She was supposed to leap across two large boulders but lost her footing and fell.
Jan 5, 2014: Hiker suffered injuries to her back, hand and face after she fell about 10m down a ravine.
Dec 3, 2013: Science teacher, in his 30s, fell to his death after tumbling down a steep slope.
Sept 28, 2013: Hiker fell 60m down a steep slope and incurred serious injuries. The Fire and Rescue Department took four hours to bring him to safety.
March 28, 2009: Two doctors were found dead in a ravine, reportedly slipped and fell some 500metres.
Oct 15, 2008: A college student fell from a height of about 100m but cheated death as tree branches broke her fall. She suffered a deep gash on her forehead, cracked ribs and a punctured lung.
Dec 17, 2012: A 27-year-old engineer survived with minor injuries after falling 100 metres into a ravine. He was found to have sprained his ankle and injured his waist.
Dec 19, 2009: Five friends got lost for five hours but was later found safe.
Sept 23, 2009: Hiker cheat death when a tree branch broke his fall. He was trapped for five hours before being saved.
