#TeacherMagic✨ loves... @teachandtransform Surprised? You shouldn’t be. Liz Kleinrock has been getting a ton of media attention lately stemming from her very necessary and age appropriate lesson on consent, however, I’ve been a super fan of this awesome teacher since long before that. Her culturally relevant lessons are proof that you don’t need glitz and glamor to grab the attention of children today. Using chart paper and markers, Liz is able to empower her students with the knowledge they need to master standards while dismantling racism and biases at the same time. Earlier this year, Liz was invited to SXSW EDU as an education mentor, where she met with educators and innovators in order to assist in the creation of social justice programming in schools.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 In addition, she is also the recipient of Teaching Tolerance’s 2018 Award for Excellence in Teaching.🏆 Be sure to head over to her page, @teachandtransform and follow because — the best is yet to come from this amazing educator! #teacherspotlight #teacherlove #teachermagic 🔮✨

A school manager asked me a long time ago, very surprised: "Are you leaving?". I answered: "I am, I'm going to open the gate." "Which gate?" she replied. In case you didn't know this is my "do we talkusiness or do we get beers and talk business" mode or pose. I remember this picture exactly and I want to share it with the message that spurred from this "pose for a photo 📸 while they get the beers" moment.

This photo was taken in the period when we were in the final stretches of #SXSWEDU proposal, when my business started shifting to new areas, I had just purchased #MarketEdLive ticket and realized that I'll see so many people IRL and it's going to be a blast. Also, the first cracks in existing collaborations and laid plans and communities started showing.

For those who might not know, I love Social Media. Yes, love. Love it! It has given me opportunities I've not had before, given me access to knowledge, people and communities, given me people I care about deeply and have become closer than people I know and see daily face to face. And the amount of love I receive daily and in those moments when I need them is undescribable, it goes beyond words, content, videos or blogposts.

This moment gave the realization that it's not the amount of work, travels or stress that kills me, drains me and literally sucks the life out of me. It's actually toxic people, relationships, fakeness and inautheticity. It's those moments where you see through the cracks how things are different on the outside vs the inside. We have a saying in Slovene "reči bobu bob" vaguely translated čut the BS and tell it like it is. And the opposite of "reči bobu bob" kills me on energy levels, not being able to retain my full-happy-cheery-self all the time.

I'm not saying I'm the sharpest tool in the shed. Nor that I'm Jabba dabba doo 100% of the time. Nope, I can be pretty messy and super messy and such but it dawned on me (yes, laugh if you wish) that the BS circumstances make me messier. The opposite of who I am. They make me roll back into the corporation days when it was all a daily cutting-thru-the-BS shitstorms every day. Back then you would have seen a me, neatly smiling in the picture, contained. Eating BS with a Big Spoon.
So this #TBT I'm putting "I'm back, Zala' 👖On! 🔥 🔥 🔥

Just saw this amazing quote on @sxswedu this morning. ・・・
