It was such an honor to be a part of this years Naseeha Gala Fundraiser for the Naseeha Muslim Youth Helpline @1866naseeha which is a nonprofit organization that provides support for minority youth in North America. They listen, answer questions, and essentially help youth to help themselves through healthy channels. They provide counceling on a range of topics including, religion, spirituality, anxiety, stress, depression, suicide, rape, addiction, domestic violence etc. This years event focused on mental health and suicide. I spoke about how social media shows the fabulous results....not necessarily the journey to get there (don't get lost in that, its not always reality 🙅)... And how finding your tribe 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃 can provide a sense of belonging and help dispell loneliness. *Naseeha Muslim Youth Helpline operates Monday-Friday 9-6, 1-866-NASEEHA.
Currently, they are implementing steps to be a full 24 hour service by 2020. I can't imagine how different my life might be today, if Naseeha existed when I was a child. But, I'm glad you came when you did! To Donate/Learn more about how Naseeha Muslim Youth Helpline is giving back to the community check out their website. Www.Naseeha.org
Lastly...special thanks to Yaseen and Sumayyah Poonah for not only making Naseeha a reality, but also, for reaching out to me, welcoming me into the Toronto community, treating me like family and showing me so much love. Please keep building this amazing organization. We need it now more than ever!
