My sweet first daughter has had a full, fun birthday! We had presents, lunch dates with YaYa and her girls, shopping, Red Robin and we ended the night with a cookie cake and some Sweet Lab rolled ice cream! Whew! #nopropsneeded #11goingon30 #gingersmama #sweeteverything

💌#sweeteverything : “I always have plenty of time to do exactly what I want to do.”
.
A lot of the times we put obstacles in our way that hold us back from reaching our goals without even realizing it. Excuses become so natural that we don’t even recognize that they are excuses.
.
A big one is “I don’t have enough time” or “I am too busy.”
.
I was recently at a conference and we had a break for lunch. I was sitting there by myself and a man walked up to me and said, “Are you an entrepreneur?” I don’t know how he knew to ask that because I was just sitting there checking my e-mail – it could be the luckiest guess in the history of conferences because we weren’t really learning anything business related either. Naturally the next question was, “What do you do?” (usually that question comes before someone even asks you your name, especially in New York) 😉
.
He told me his job title and then he followed it up with, “but what I would like to do eventually is start a nonprofit and be able to give back.” I asked him what was holding him back from doing that and he said, “I don’t have time.”
.
I decided not to coach him right there and knowing what he did for a living I understood that he likely does not sleep much and works all the time…so I asked him what he did for Memorial Day weekend (the conference was shortly after the holiday and I was trying to lighten the mood). He said he didn’t have plans and a lot of his friends had gone out of town so he was bored all weekend.

BORED!

Okay — I have to admit this wasn’t one of my proudest moments or a time when I was practicing my poker face — I had to call him out. 2 seconds earlier he said he didn’t have time to pursue his life dream of starting a nonprofit and saving the world and he has time to be bored???? .
I think the words that came out of my mouth were something like, “Did you just say you’re really busy AND you had time to be bored?” 😱
.
I had to point out that he was blaming ‘time’ for why he couldn’t do something and he was a good sport about it and we laughed. My point is: if you want something badly enough then you will make it a priority and then make time for it.

💌#sweeteverything: “I am magnetic! I walk into a crowded room and people notice me and love my positive energy!”
.
Does that make anyone else super uncomfortable at the thought of everyone turning around and looking at you as you walk into a room? 👆🏻😳
.
It used to make me want to crawl into a hole and hide.
.
I remember the first time my friend and mentor invited me to a networking event. It was 3 months after I moved to NYC. I was working as a night shift nurse with no intention of starting a business and already planning my next move to Washington, D.C. .
>>>I said, “no” for months. .
He wanted to take me to events with a bunch of entrepreneurs like him and in the back of my mind I thought, “What would I have to say to these amazing visionary people if I got stuck talking to some of them? I’m just a nurse.”
.
Thankfully he kept asking me and at the time I didn’t realize this, but it changed my life and I am eternally grateful because I started believing in myself.
.
I used to tell myself that I was “shy” and “not good at public speaking” and I would walk into a crowded room and immediately wonder “What is everyone thinking?” like they had nothing better to do than judge me for being there or having food in my teeth or saying something dumb.
.
Thank goodness I got over that!
.
Now people introduce me and say, “Tara knows everyone” or they reach out and say “If anyone can help me figure out who I need to meet, it’s you!”
.
None of that would have been possible if I had kept telling myself that I am shy. Shy is cute when you’re 5 years old...it’s not so much when you’re older. I started by putting myself out there more and saying yes to things that I used to say no to.
.
Here's what I know now: •People who don't know you and choose to judge you are not worth your time or energy. •It is impossible for everyone to like you all the time or to make everyone around you happy. •The most important opinion you will ever encounter is the one you have of yourself.

Your super power today is that you have the ability to surround yourself with love. Surround yourself with so much love that it acts as a shield for any negativity around you.

Earlier this year I did a daily sweet everything’s campaign to promote self love in February for my online community. They loved it so much that I thought I would bring it back and leave it right here! .
💌#sweeteverything: “I make each new day the best day of my life!”
.
Wouldn’t it be exciting to think that some of the best days of your life haven’t happened yet? 🎉
.
If someone asked you right now to describe the happiest day of your life, would you say “today”?
.
Most people would think about their wedding day or the day their child (or children) were born or the day they got that big promotion at work that they worked so hard for or the day they quit their job to pursue something they are passionate about full time. Most people would not say, “today”.
.
>>>You are not most people.<<<
.
If you made today better than or as good as all of those other days that were awesome then you are not making those days less meaningful. Those other days where you celebrated your life serve as a reminder of how you felt on your best day, but if you hold onto them as the best days of your entire life then you are holding yourself back. Why can’t you celebrate every day like it was *that* significant?
.
I remember when I graduated from high school and was getting ready to go to college I kept getting the same piece of advice over and over again: “The next 4 years are going to be the best years of your life! I wish I could go back!” At the time I was just super excited to be starting a new chapter in my life where I would have more freedom! The word freedom meant something completely different to me back then... But, if I could go back to that moment I would have asked those people who were giving me advice, “Why were those the best years of your life?”
.
>>>Stop living in the past.<<<
.
Telling yourself that you’ve already achieved “the best” implies that you are done. That’s why you’re settling for going through life on autopilot. The day I stopped having a routine that I hated was the day that I started making each new day the best day of my life.
.
How will you start incorporating things you love into every day? ❤️
