I hope you enjoy making these gorgeous little bunnies for your family. Making these has become an old tradition of our family during Easter time, one that we all look forward to.
2-1/4 tsp. (8gr) Active dry yeast
1/4- cup (60ml) Water warm
1-cup (250 ml) Milk warm
1/3- cup (115 gr) Sugar
1/2- cup (95 gr) Vegetable Shortening
1-tsp. ( 5ml) Salt
5 to 5-1/2 cup(1,150kg) Flour (all purpose ) -reserve 1/2 cup (60 gr)
2- Eggs ( beaten and room temperature)
1/4- cup (50 ml) Orange Juice
1- Orange peel grated
Icing sugar, milk, 1tsp- melted margarine or butter
Oven: 360 Degrees ( 180 C) -Oven Middle Rack - Time : 12 -15 minutes - Makes 24- 🐰 In a bowl add the yeast and the warm water ( lukewarm), honey and proof for 10 minutes. In another pot add the milk, shortening and salt allow to melt on the stove stop on medium heat, then let cool until lukewarm.
Using your stand up mixer add in the milk mixture and 2 cups (240gr) of flour, eggs and
mix well, add the proof yeast and mix, then add the orange juice, peel, and the remains flour
continue mixing slowly add the 1/2 cup ( 60 gr)of flour that was reserved ( if needed) you need to make a soft dough not sticky and continue to mix dough until all incorporated, then allow the dough to rest in the bowl for 10-15 minutes.
On clean and lightly floured surface, knead dough until nice and smooth, 10 minutes. Place
