446X1X5, 1X3, 1X1 with the Duffalo Bar! I knew my back would be still fried from the meet so I autoregulated my volume. Big point this cycle is to push my limits to see progress again. Going to prioritize myself a little more again to be able to do that #SurgeToNewLevels#SurgePowerlifting#NFPGEAR#USPAPOWER
496X5 finally actually looking like my normal pulls! Key was engaging my lats more to just get that extra inch to get my shoulders behind the bar and not in front of it. World of a difference, I can actually pull up and back with confidence - - - "Surge To New Levels Gym Chicago Suburbs premium private training, powerlifting, and strongman facility! 24/7 access and outfitted with everything you need to compete and perform!" www.surgetonewlevels.net
Compilation of all my best lifts. 615 wrapped squat, 545 raw squat, 352 bench, and 620 DL.
I watched one of these last night and thought "wow that's me"? So I'm putting this up as a reminder that I'm still an athlete and I CAN do whatever I put my mind to. If I've been able to hit an elite total in 2 classes by 25. Even make the Top 20 in the All Time 165 Squats and also Best of the Best American rankings THEN I should have way more in me.
Rack pulls, back accessories, close grip bench, and triceps today. Missed Monday’s training thanks to a late shift, so today I played catch up 😬 I will absolutely not allow myself to fall off track with programming.. even if it means dealing with weekend gym crowds!
"I just wanted to say how thankful I am for what you are doing for the sport of powerlifting and for sponsoring the Power Surge meet, it created some great memories and it has given me confidence to push harder and do more n the future"
SQUAT TIP: Upper back tightness is just about as important as the squat itself! More times than not you'll see lifters casually bringing themselves under the bar with little to no set up. Usually you'll find that even if the squat is performed well, the lack of tightness in the upper back causes them lose overall positioning and by default lose strength and speed needed to progress to heavier sets. Personally when setting up I like to fully grip the bar with the index finger just outside the ring although width will depend from person to person based off of their shoulder mobility. From there I really make sure to pull apart the bar and bring my upper back to the bar while also pulling the bar into me. It feels something like a lat pull down when it's done right. From there I know my lats are activated and I begin to play around with the bar so it digs into where I want to hold it. This is just above my rear delts, any lower and I tend to have a hard time holding the bar on my back. Usually I'll have someone help center me verbally or physically due to my lack of mobility and I'm ready to go!
