During the last few weeks, our pilot trainees from Pilot Class 13 did lots of sling load exercises. It takes a lot of concentration and an easy hand to position the helicopter exactly above the loadmaster which hooks the sling to the helicopter. While doing this, the pilot has to stabilize and correct the hover position of the aircraft continuously. It also takes excellent communication skills for all involved personnel to execute a safe operation of the various sling loads. Have you ever been this close to a hovering helicopter?
Even after a meeting 3 days before, I could not resist to see another, the air & space days at Lucerne. In my defense, it was just one hour by car 😄 Next time, is it possible to take pictures from inside? 😇
