Unrest will soon be released on iTunes, and you must watch it. My partner has M.E, and watching the world play ignorant around them drives me insane. They don’t see them on the dark days. Nobody sees M.E sufferers on the dark days. But this movie takes you all over the world, straight to the sufferers homes.
M.E Is global, and dates back to longer than we know. Previously it has been misdiagnosed as hysteria, a disturbing fact when you align this with the statistic that 80% of those with M.E are born females.
M.E is ridiculously underfunded. In the US there is between $3-8 for each patient each year.
Quarter of a million people in the UK have M.E. They are not receiving support.
In this movie we witness a young girl from Denmark taken from her parents by the government, as they believe it’s in her head and the parents are the cause. They don’t see each other again for 3 years.
Jennifer brea, the director, was confined to her bed 99% of the time. She connected with the world from her bed, and has created something incredible.
At the screening last night, both her husband and her were there for Q&As. This is someone who’s trapped inside her body, pushing boundaries that’ll exhaust her for weeks, in order to get word out there; that millions are missing.
