A purple sunbird female perched firmly on a jasmine flower tree to sip nectar while it was drizzling in Kolkata last weekend ..... usually this bird perches and feeds, but sometimes it hovers in flight to get a sip when the approach to the flower is not rigid enough for it to perch.
