@katieherbstmachir demonstrating a Zercher Squat here. Katie tends to get a lot of tension in her lower back with most squat variations, however in the zercher position it shifts the load anteriorly so that most of the load is felt in the abs.
I might also add that for cueing purposes I told her that as she sits into her squat "drive her ribs into her back pockets.” This allowed her to maintain tension in her abs while avoiding ER of her rib cage.
This is the third time she has tried the Zercher Squat. The first two times was on the @go_exxentric KBox with a padded bar, so for this I wrapped up the bar with a hand towel to make the movement a bit more comfortable on her elbows. #momswhilift #zerchersquats
