Kicked off my next round of Whole30 today with my girl Rach. I always assumed I would be miserable eating cleaner but in fact it's the complete opposite. I had a few treats this past weekend and although I regret nothing, I woke up feeling like crap.

If you guessed sugar, you’re right. When someone tells me to give up sugar, I just want more 🤷🏼‍♀️. But, when I consider the health benefits, it makes the choice much easier. All sugar is good for is that it is a carb and produces quick energy. However, it has:
❌0 vitamins
❌0 minerals
❌0 fat
❌0 proteins
It might satisfy your tastebuds but it won’t NOURISH your body because it is VOID OF NUTRITION. ❌Also, it causes tooth decay.
❌And, it spikes your blood sugar causing you to be hungry sooner.
❌And, your cells can only use so much fuel so the extra just gets stored as fat.
I’m counting 7 strikes against it already...
I’m not saying to never eat it. But, when you only get so much food a day to eat, wouldn’t you rather eat something that will BENEFIT your health instead of harm it? (I hope this rant helps you stay strong and make better choices this season 😊)

Okay y’all. I am trying to reduce sugar from my diet. It is so much harder than I though. Everything has sugar. My yogurt has sugar! My oatmeal has it. I haven’t checked my protein powder but I am sure it is in there. I know I won’t get it down to zero, but any reduction will be good. I am making a strong effort and today was day 1. Have you guys tried @simplemills pumpkin bread/muffin mix? I’m obsessed with it this time of year and the ingredients are clean and made with almond flour, so you know-gluten free.
I mixed in some @enjoylifefoods mini chocolate chips because YUM. And also dairy free and gluten free. So SUCH a win. Top with sunbutter and You. Will. Die. It’s so good.

Happy Monday! I was gonna make another veggie bowl and photograph it but the weather has suddenly turned fall like in Houston and I was dreaming of a warm mug of pumpkin spice latte. Pumpkin lattes are everywhere(Starbucks I’m looking at you!🤨) and they are filled with sugar and caffeine. Making a “whole food” version doesn’t take long and while some of the extra ingredients make it extra wholesome and yum a can of pumpkin, spice, and almond milk can suffice. Here is my recipe and stay warm out there! 🎃 ☕️✨ Pumpkin latte:
2 Tbsp of @artisans organics cashew butter
1/4 cup of organic pumpkin purée
Lots of pumpkin pie spice to taste
1 scoop @vitalproteins collagen peptides
Stevia drops or maple syrup to taste
1 @hailmerrysnacks sweet potato pie to give it extra yum

Heat water in kettle. Add all other ingredients to blender. Add hot water and blend away. Pour into mug and add extra pumpkin pie spice and star anise for that look!😍😍😍

Day one of the 21 day sugar fix. I’m not a big fan of fad diets or anything , but this should be a good way to reboot after eating like crap for the past few months. @alyshalc90 is nice enough to join me on the challenge! Don’t worry, the second picture has brocolli tots, Guac and the chicken is breaded with almond flour so I still get to eat yummy food!

Vitamin D is more of a hormone than a vitamin. Take advantage of soaking it up when possible sans sunblock. If you are prone to burning, cover up after a few minutes. But allow your body to soak in what Mother Nature has provided us for optimal health. ☀️

The idea is to combine sweet & savory foods. If the idea of eating a small cookie or fun-size candy bar seems impossible, you can still satisfy your sweet tooth and fill yourself up. My personal favorite is combining my craving food with a healthy one. For example, I love chocolate. So sometimes I’ll dip strawberries in melted chocolate and then that gives me what I’m craving. Now you are satisfying a craving and getting healthy nutrients. In the blog above you’ll find tips and tricks to control those inner sweet cravings. With a little extra support, you will breeze through this holiday season feeling your best.

Sneak peak with a few tips:
1. Reach for fruit: When sugar cravings start, satisfy your sweet tooth with apples, oranges or berries. You’ll get fiber and loads of antioxidants, along with natural sweetness.  2. Eat regularly: Waiting to long between meals can set you up to start craving sugary, fatty foods.
3. Give in a little ( I do this daily): Restricting yourself can lead to overeating and binging on all those delicious sweets. So, eat a bit of what you’re craving. Maybe a small cookie or a fun-size candy bar but try to stick to no more than 150 calories with 16 grams of sugar or less. Enjoying a little of what you love can help keep you on track, especially during the holidays. You do have to indulge a little bit!
