Yesterday I treated myself to an impulse buy at Half Price Books. I originally came for the paperback Modern Library Classics edition of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s essays because it had been ogling me the past 7 or 8 times I’ve been there. But. I go, and of course it’s not there anymore, so it is likely I will be ordering it this weekend off of Amazon or something..
I have been very into essays over the past year and a half! It’s like going a depth beyond what a biography can offer because you truly get inside the author’s mind and learn their thoughts and ideas about the world! Essays and letters are my favorite form of nonfiction I’d have to say.
Any who, this was not a bad 2nd choice at all! Because had I not gotten this, I know it would have lingered on my mind for who knows how long as well. I almost hate going to the bookstore nowadays. There are just too many books I feel I need to have!
I am trying to read more poetry and have always loved the Frost poems I’ve studied in school the most! The first poem I ever had to memorize for English class was Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening. I am very excited to start on this collection. I’m adding it to my current reads pile and hopefully these poems will help calm my anxieties because they are predominantly about nature, my first love 💕
