Great initiative ... In a collaboration between Spotify and the Brooklyn Museum, New York’s Broadway-Lafayette subway station has been given a makeover as a tribute to the late, great David Bowie. The installation is part of the current David Bowie is exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, where over 400 objects of the Starman’s personal archive are on display - including show costumes, vinyls, photographs, and handwritten lyric sheets.
Featuring gigantic portraits of Bowie on the steps leading into the Broadway-Lafayette station, the “subway takeover” explores the musician's influence on music, fashion, and culture. The installation also includes printed quotes, fan-made art, and maps of his favorite NYC hangouts. There are even limited edition MetroCards featuring images of the iconic artist from the museum’s collection. Each MetroCard grants free entry to the main exhibition to anyone who’s lucky enough to get one. Above ground, life-sized cardboard cutouts of the singer have been placed all over the city— from Times Square to Brooklyn and Downtown Manhattan, Ziggy Stardust is back in town!

Spotify will also be using its multimedia platform, Spotlight, to debut a new content series called “David Bowie Stories,” featuring interviews, essays and behind-the-scenes stories of his work.
