When people think of grunge today, they usually think of basically any angsty band from Seattle from the early 90s. Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, etc. While those are fine bands and all, grunge was originally coined to describe a specific blend of punk and slow, grindy metal that had a dark and sludgy aesthetic as first exemplified on the second side of Black Flag 's My War record. Time and misuse have blurred that original intent of the word, but the music is still out there to be enjoyed: Green River, the early Melvins records, and of course the first handful of Soundgarden releases. #screaminglife falls second in my book only to Louder Than Love in their catalog. This is the 2013 #subpop reissue that once again combines it with #fopp to make the #screaminglifefopp compilation.
