Was listening to an old @lindseyhein626 podcast with @shalaneflanagan & @elysekopecky about their NYT bestselling book, #runfasteatslow on my run yesterday, and something Shalane said at the end really stuck with me-

“If you are achieving all of your goals, you probably aren’t setting a high enough standard for yourself.”
.
Mic drop. Boom. Yes! Reminded me of last year when I was in the buildup for my first sub 3 attempt. I did a half marathon in training and ran 1:30:29. Lol. And I still dared to believe and share that I could run faster than that for twice the distance, just a couple months later. 🤷🏽‍♀️
.
That “failure” hurt, but also pushed me to be more consistent and serious with training, rest, and nutrition than I had ever, ever been. I lived, breathed, and slept with the intention of breaking 3. And then, I did it.
.
It’s okay to be afraid, and to reach so high that sometimes you will “fail.” Or maybe you won’t accomplish everything on the first try. If you don’t put yourself out there and go after things that really, truly challenge you, you will never know your true potential.
.
I think I can run a sub 2:45 and reach the Olympic Trials Qualifying Standard. I know I have a lot of work to do to get there (we’ll find out just how much on Dec 2nd! 😬) I’m not embarrassed to share, and I know that by making it known, and having the accountability and also the support of so many of you out there, that I have an even better shot of making that dream come true.

Week 3 - Marathon Training 🏃🏃🏃 . .

I wonder how many ultra runners are disappointed with their marathon PB or relative marathon current performance?? 🤔 . .

Of those I coach it's about 50:50, some care and others couldn't care less. Neither are wrong or right as I see it as their goals are personal to them and are to be respected as such.❤️ . .

For myself personally I really care. I WANT MY SUB 3!! Consequently, I'm upping my commitment to have another go! In fact, I’ve decided I will not stop trying until I get it, which probably gives me a few years yet before I play the ‘I’m too old’ card! ☠️ . .

I'm in week 3 of a 24 week marathon plan for Boston (UK) 14th April. Could that be where I get it!? I’ve missed it by approx 5 minutes three times already. I can smell it...!! 🏁 . .

Well where to start. Pre race party was cool. The corral start on the other hand 🤦🏼‍♂️ I was in wave 1 corral 2. The way they lead you to the start you literally had to force your way from the back I think 16 corrals to the front. At other races I have done that size they have corrals roped off so that you have fast to slow runner “hopefully not to much running around ppl” not here I stood half way back in carrol 2 right next to someone with a bib for 7 to one side and 9 to the other. #THROWBACKTHURSDAY to my first ever race, the London marathon 2008, compared to my 8th marathon and 3rd major Chicago 2015, compared to the last marathon I ran. Dublin 2018, this was the first time in 13 marathons that I truly felt in control. The effort to mile 18/19 felt easy, I truly was gliding along, albeit knowing the last couple of miles would hurt. They did, and the effort to just to keep on pace was immense. The finish line never came, the miles seemed to go on and on. I never gave up, I kept pushing because I knew it would soon be over and I go enjoy a shiny new pb! A pb I was starting to think would never happen. Glad the hard work and many miles have paid off, physically stronger and mentally stronger as I’ve been there 13 times before.

Boston mail!!! 💙💛woo hoo!! Going back for # 11!! Boston is the place I’ve ran my slowest marathon 3:41, (at 30) and also my 2nd fastest 2:55(at 40)! I said after that first Boston, once was enough, and I’d never go back!!🙈 Lol! You see how that worked out!! 😂 This past Boston, I swam to the finish line with hypothermia, that was not fun 😭....I’m so ready for some redemption!! 👊🏻💥 Who’s with me? 😄 #boston2019 .

Oh! And by the way it’s also National Pickle day!! So in honor of pickles I’m giving a shout out to one of my favs... @picklejuicesport !!! The last two times I ran sub 3 at Boston (they were warm ones) I swear pickle juice helped me feel great in that last 10k! I was flying by people struggling with cramps and dehydration. This pickle juice has electrolytes, sodium and vinegar (which is a neural inhibitor). Love it! 💚💚 •

こんな日は、遅出で10:00出社するんだが、
10:00からミーティング😱

始業と同時にミーティングって、
電車遅れたらヤダし、いつも通り出社。

帰宅後は、 #1番エライ人#skype 会議。

今週は、月曜日お休み頂いてたにも関わらず、
眠気がハンパなく、その後は爆睡💦

Acredito muito que certas coisas dão errado em um momento pra se acertar lá na frente. Esse foi um dos casos.

No período esportivo mais difícil pra mim nesse ano, conheci @luizfelipemrs e a @theshipyardpilates através de @andreapaws, @jonaslucena e da @acorja.

first ever sub3 1km on road (2:58). that makes 12 total this year, 11 on grass/track, 1 on the road. this was pretty rough, dead legs and 4 turns, 2 hard ones. got it done tho.
